The first IMOTANA prototype

After months of development we now hold the first prototype in our hands.

This feels similar to holding a little baby in your hands. We are proud and happy about every detail.

Some parts are still from the 3D printer and many parts are handmade.

During development, we asked ourselves what makes a great football boot.

In our opinion, the most important elements are:

• Fit: The material and the last determine whether a boot fits well.
• Comfort level: This is achieved through the material used inside (insole, heel area) and the construction of the football boot.
• Grip and stability: This is defined by the right sole, the material and the whole construction of the boot.
• Design & Look: football boots have to look cool, so we want to make as many areas as possible color customizable.

#1 The fit

The boots must fit perfectly to the foot, so that you feel comfortable in them.

Sure, because you need a good feel for the ball to make an accurate pass or get the free kick where it needs to go.

We have the goal that the boots should fit like a second skin. Without slipping, without pressure points and without blisters.

We achieve this through two points:

1. The boot is adjusted to the shape of your foot. To do this, you need to scan your foot. Our artificial intelligence then calculates your last.
2. Flexible knit as the main component for the upper leads to the boot flexibly adapts to your shape and hugs your foot.

#2 Wearing comfort

The knit used basically leads to a pleasant wearing comfort.

In combination with a soft insole and a padded heel area, your foot stands compactly in the boot.

It can not slip and this will not cause pressure points or blisters.

#3 Grip and stability

Like a car tire, football boots need the right grip on any surface and in any weather.

The sole design is responsible for this. This is achieved by a special arrangement of the studs (different lengths, differently aligned positioning).

However, since the boot should also be very light at the same time, we have constructed the sole in such a way that unnecessary areas are left out and, for example, the middle area of the sole is completely omitted.

The sole is divided into two areas: Ball of foot and heel.

This reduces the overall weight of the boot and makes it feel light as a feather. One boot weighs only 220g.

A stable Insole Board gives the boot its stability, which would otherwise be achieved by a thick sole.

The Insole Board is really stiff in one direction so it strengthens your shot and flexible in the other direction so you can roll well.

#4 Design & Look

There are no limits to your ideas!

We have built the boot so that as many zones of the boot as possible can be customized:

1. Upper and Power Band
2. Knitting socks
3. Sole and cleats
4. Grip Zone and Pull Loop
5. Laces

Next Steps

This is the first prototype. It's pretty cool for that, but we're not satisfied yet and want to improve various points in the next step.

1. The design of the upper:
   At the moment, it still looks a bit too well-behaved. But we want to look more aggresive.
2. Cleat shape:
   This should fit even better with the overall look and we continue to try to save weight.
3. Upper flexibility:
   This should become even softer and feel more like soft leather.
